Childfree Women Over 40: What Does the Future Hold?

As a woman, being childless, whether by choice or by circumstance, is a double-edged sword. And that sword will strike you again and again throughout your life. It’s time to figure out where we go from here.

DIY Lighting

We’re here to save you from unfortunate lighting in your home. And best of all, you can do it yourSELF.

Compliments: keep them coming…and going

Paying it forward with compliments not only brightens other people’s day, but yours too.

In Praise of the Caftan

We here at Old Ladies Society love Caftans. The Caftan has a long and exotic history. Sassy Pants shows you how to incorporate them into your Old Lady Arsenal.

Looking tasteful without being wasteful: Straw Alternatives

Game, Set, (Don’t) Match

Don’t be afraid of bold colors and mixing it up with your wardrobe! Here’s how to rock colorful patterns like a pro.

Diana Rigg

Dame Diana Rigg, aka Emma Peel was a 1960’s style icon, sex kitten, karate chopping hero who embodied the perfect balance of being a strong woman who could also be sexy, smart and stylish all at the same time.

The Invisible String and the Cloak of Dignity

How to have good posture and fend off insults.

What’s this all about?

The Eccentric Dames Society is here for middle-aged and older women who don’t fit the mold. We are here for for the rebels, the rule breakers, and the style-makers (and those who want to become any of those!) We are a new generation of “old” ladies; we aren’t afraid to admit that we’re old now, but we have to do it our way. We’ve made it this far. We have gained wisdom. We like comfy shoes (but that are still cute) and staying home (where we have clean bathrooms, unlimited booze and pets are allowed, and there are no assholes to deal with). We like to go out, but on our own terms, and when and where we choose. We don’t care what people think anymore. We’ve been there, done that. Now we are selective about who we see, what we do, and what we want, and we’re not even sorry about it. Our time is valuable, and we want to make the most of it — whatever that means to each of us. Welcome, rule breakers.
